Travel Hacks
Drive up to Mount Abu before eight in the morning on weekends and holidays. Traffic on the ghat road and parking in the town become very difficult later in the day.
Plan the Dilwara Temples visit for midday, when they open to non Jain visitors. Check timings in advance, leave leather items and phones as required, and dress modestly.
Visit Ambaji early in the morning to avoid crowds, and avoid the Bhadarvi Poonam fair period unless you want to experience the pilgrimage, when roads are crowded with walking devotees.
Try dal baati churma and gatte ki sabzi at the hotel restaurant, and Gujarati thali in Ambaji. Rajasthani sweets such as ghevar and malpua are worth tasting in Mount Abu.
Carry a light jacket for Mount Abu even in summer. The hill station is several degrees cooler than the plains, and evenings can be chilly from November to February.
Use the pool in the late afternoon after returning from the hills. It is the best time to relax before dinner, as the sun softens.
Confirm the checkout time of ten in the morning. If you plan a late departure, ask in advance for a late checkout or luggage storage.
Keep the hotel's phone number handy when arriving by train. Staff can send or arrange a taxi from Abu Road station, saving negotiation at the station exit.
Carry cash for tolls, the Mount Abu entry fee and small purchases. Digital payments by UPI are widely accepted, but rural areas sometimes have connectivity issues.
